Let's begin with the first of our Hello Flow practices...






Introduction

This first practice, like quite a few in this series, may seem too simple to be effective.

But when it comes to resistance, we’re usually dealing with subconscious fears and doubts.

By definition, we’re not conscious of these blocks, we often don't know why we're resisting certain actions.

That’s why it can be so confusing when we don’t do what we say we want to do!

Luckily, these subconscious fears can be neutralised quite simply, and it’s this simple approach that we’re going to begin with this week.

But first, a short story.

Over the years, as I’ve studied the ways we can become the best versions of ourselves, I came across the practice that I’m going to share with you today.

I actually encountered it quite a few times. (Which you'd think would have given me a clue about its success rate.)

I dabbled with it a couple of times, thinking I may as well give it a go, but I never really took it seriously and eventually forgot all about it.

Until I signed up for an expensive training programme with a very successful woman who was living the kind of life I wanted to be living.

She was committed to serving the world, she was kind, generous, successful and brilliant at her work.

She was also extremely wealthy and glamorous, enjoying the most exquisite luxury homes, travelling in style and comfort wherever she went.

I felt that she was truly winning at life and I was keen to learn from her, especially as she'd revealed that her life wasn’t always so perfect.

In the past, she'd been held back by the fears and self-doubts that so many of us deal with on a daily basis.

But in this programme, she promised to share the steps that had helped her overcome her limitations and create the life she loved so much.

So, when she suggested the practice we’ll be exploring today - this time, I took more notice.

I committed to doing it, even though I wasn’t entirely sure it could actually make a difference.

But I was keen to be a dutiful student, and I had paid quite a bit for the programme so I was determined to at least give it a go.

At first, I didn’t notice any difference.

No earth-shattering after-effects that transformed me into a fearless super-confident braveheart.

But after doing this practice daily for a month or so, I started to notice some very subtle changes.

I realised that certain fears and anxieties that had bothered me in the past just didn’t bother me anymore.

I just couldn't relate to the old fears at all, I couldn't even understand why I'd ever been afraid of them.

In some cases, it was even better than just feeling less fearful around them - the old worries never even cropped up in the first place!

It was as if a bug had been cleared from my operating system, and now I was just functioning more smoothly - as we’re meant to - without the glitches or crashes that had previously blighted my experience.

And so, I was convinced by this simple but powerful practice.

I know it works for me, and since it was also a proven practice for my mentor, it seems it could be universal in its magic.
